3 Tips To Keep Food Odors Out Of Your Commercial Kitchen

Construction & Contractors Blog

Although your commercial kitchen might smell good most of the time from all of the delicious food that's being cooked, there's a chance that the smell isn't so pleasant all of the time. Smoke, grease and other odors can be quite unpleasant, but the way that your restaurant smells can have a big impact on whether or not it's attractive to your customer base. Luckily, there are ways that you can help keep food odors out of your commercial kitchen. Give these tips a try for a fresh, clean smell that is sure to attract more customers to eat at your restaurant.

1. Keep Your Ventilation System Clean

Your restaurant ventilation system does a lot of work to help fight grease all day long, but it probably needs some help to stay clean. Clean off your hood and any removable components on a regular basis. Also, use a preciptitator maintenance service to keep filters and other hidden components nice and clean. Along with cutting down on unpleasant smells in your commercial kitchen, you'll be helping reduce your restaurant's fire risk as well.

2. Keep All Hard Surfaces Wiped Down

Keeping all of the hard surfaces in your restaurant clean is important. Not only will it help get rid of odors, but it will also help you operate a more well-sanitized establishment. Use a bleach solution to wipe down counter tops, stove tops and other food preparation and cooking areas constantly throughout the day. Also, set up a cleaning schedule for mopping your floors and wiping down your walls; these tasks should be done at least once a day for optimal cleanliness and odor control.

3. Clean Your Drains

The drains in your commercial kitchen are probably put through a lot of work. Throughout the course of a normal day, your drains probably become filled with grease, food and more quite often. Make a point to clear any debris from your drains on a regular basis, and clean them out regularly with a solution of baking soda and vinegar; all you have to do is pour in about a cup full of baking soda, then chase it with the same amount of vinegar to create a chemical reaction. This will help get food particles and grease out of your drain, which will both help cut down on odors and help keep your drains from clogging.

Your commercial kitchen doesn't have to smell bad. If you follow these three tips, you can keep it nice, clean and odor-free. Contact professionals, such as those from Fireproofing Corporation, for further assistance.

Leaking Roofs and Roof Repairs

My name is Debbie Greenberg. I’m a single woman who owns her home, and like most homeowners I dread home repairs. I’m not very handy with do-it-yourself projects around the house. I can do a few minor repairs when necessary, but for the most part I have to call in a professional. Last year I had a leak in my roof. When it rained, water would leak into my kitchen. What appeared to be a simple fix turned out to be anything but simple. It took over four months to finally identify the problem, and double the money I was initially quoted to fix it. The problem ended up being that the flat part of my roof didn't have shingles, but a sheeting material. I learned a bit about home roofs along the way, and that is what I want to share with you.
