Two Reasons Why Your Business Should Make The Switch To A Green Roof

Construction & Contractors Blog

Whether you're constructing a new facility or your current roof is starting to give you some trouble, installing a green roof should definitely be on the list of priorities for your business.  A green roof is essentially a rooftop that is covered with lush vegetation and shrubbery.  Not only is it called a green roof because of the colors, but because they are environmentally-friendly additions, and they are growing more popular each day.  Use this information to learn more about why making the switch to a green roof may be the perfect choice for you.

Green Roofs Provide Natural Insulation

One reason why green roofs are such a valuable commodity is that they provide your business with a natural form of insulation.  Many commercial facilities lack adequate insulation in the roofs because builders may believe that the attic space will only be inhabited by storage items.  When you don't have the right amount of insulation in your attic, a greater amount of your indoor air is able to seep outdoors.  This can throw your heating and air conditioning unit into a tailspin, as it works harder and harder to maintain the temperature set on your thermostat.

When you have a green roof, you have a natural habitat where sunlight is absorbed by plants and trees so that less of the heat will radiate into your building.  With a green roof, you may be pleasantly surprised to find that your energy bills consume less of your profits. If you have been trying to lower your overhead costs, talk with a commercial roofing company about your options.

Green Roofs Are The Perfect Break Area

If the rooftop on your edifice is flat, installing a green roof can perform double duty: it can absorb the rays of the sun so that less heat is radiated into your building, as well as serve as the perfect break area for your team.  Inviting your team onto the roof is a great way to release their regular work-persona, as they bask in the beauty of a rooftop oasis. In fact, sciencedirect.com says that green spaces can lower stress levels and improve health, thus improving your employee's productivity and morale. If you live in an urban location with little room for parks, a green roof is the perfect remedy. You can place ornate benches around the rooftop area and include a special place where smokers can take in a cigarette.

Installing a green roof signals to your customers that you are doing your part to protect the environment. When you're ready for a new roof, make the right choice by selecting a green rooftop.

Leaking Roofs and Roof Repairs

My name is Debbie Greenberg. I’m a single woman who owns her home, and like most homeowners I dread home repairs. I’m not very handy with do-it-yourself projects around the house. I can do a few minor repairs when necessary, but for the most part I have to call in a professional. Last year I had a leak in my roof. When it rained, water would leak into my kitchen. What appeared to be a simple fix turned out to be anything but simple. It took over four months to finally identify the problem, and double the money I was initially quoted to fix it. The problem ended up being that the flat part of my roof didn't have shingles, but a sheeting material. I learned a bit about home roofs along the way, and that is what I want to share with you.
