Three Methods Of Tube Bending That Go Beyond Extrusion

Construction & Contractors Blog

While the technology to produce bent pipes via extrusion certainly does exist, it has a tendency to produce pipes that are a little weaker than fabricated tubes that are made straight and bent by other means. Not all tube bending and pipe bending methods are done by machine either--there is one method that is a little less high-tech and a little more unusual, but if you only need one tube bent, it may be ideal for you. Here are three methods that a tube bending company may or may not use, and how you can apply them.

The Strong Man (or Woman)

Parts of the Mr. Universe competition involve feats of strength. Similar feats of strength are required for female bodybuilders' competitions too. As you watch these people bend straight tubes and pipes into different angles (usually right angles), you may get the idea of hiring someone like this who can bend a tube or pipe for you. You may be able to use this method from time to time, but it is not a feasible solution if you have lots of tubes and pipes to bend or bend single tubes more frequently.

The Heat Application

Applying heat with a welder's torch will work better for your needs than a very strong bodybuilder. The welder's torches used by several tube bending companies applies heat to the areas of the metal tubes that will be bent to conform to the consumer's orders. The heat from the torch is so hot that it speeds up the metal's molecules, making the metal more pliable and easier to bend. If you know how to use a welder's torch, you can apply the same method/technique to any tubes or pipes you need to bend as well. If you do not know how to use a welder's torch, the final method may be the correct one to use.

The Compression Application

Special machines in a tube bending company/factory slowly and carefully compress a tube into the desired bent form. (Since the machines apply a great deal of force while maintaining the tube's shape, there is little chance that you can accomplish this task on your own outside of the factory.) If the metal tube is an especially strong one (e.g., a tube forged from titanium), then heat may be applied during the compression process to make the tube easier to bend without breaking the machinery or completely crushing the tube. This is tube bending on the most professional level, and while it may be the most costly, it produces the best results. For more information, contact a tube bending company like Accubend Inc.

Leaking Roofs and Roof Repairs

My name is Debbie Greenberg. I’m a single woman who owns her home, and like most homeowners I dread home repairs. I’m not very handy with do-it-yourself projects around the house. I can do a few minor repairs when necessary, but for the most part I have to call in a professional. Last year I had a leak in my roof. When it rained, water would leak into my kitchen. What appeared to be a simple fix turned out to be anything but simple. It took over four months to finally identify the problem, and double the money I was initially quoted to fix it. The problem ended up being that the flat part of my roof didn't have shingles, but a sheeting material. I learned a bit about home roofs along the way, and that is what I want to share with you.
