When you have to clean out a rental property of any abandoned furniture and belongings, it can quickly fill up your trailer or the bed of your pickup truck, and this can require multiple trips to and from the local landfill. Instead, you can rent a dumpster at your rental property in which you can collect all the abandoned property and other property waste you will need to dispose of to clean up the property.
There are a number of items and materials you can put into a rented dumpster, such as old carpeting, padding, trash, broken furniture, and other possessions left by your previous tenants. The size of the dumpster you will need to hold all the waste will depend on the size of the property and the amount of clutter and debris along with the level of work the property interior will need.
Talk to the dumpster rental representative to help you calculate your dumpster needs. You can rent a large dumpster with a walk-in door, which makes it easy to fill the dumpster fully and maximize its usage. However, be sure you have a clear understanding of items you can and cannot put into the dumpster. Most liquid waste is not allowed in a dumpster rental, such as vehicle fluids, batteries, paint, and chemical solvents.
Dispose of Broken Appliances
There may be times when you have discovered an appliance inside your rental property has died or your tenant has collected some old appliances and left them on your property for you to dispose of. This may include old fridges that contain R-22 refrigerant.
You cannot simply place a fridge containing R-22 refrigerant into the dumpster — you need to have the refrigerant removed and disposed of properly. You can contact an appliance repair professional to have them remove the refrigerant in the fridge so you can dispose of the appliance.
