How To Get The Most Use Out Of Your Outdoor Space

Construction & Contractors Blog

Remember when you bought your home and pictured barbeques and cornhole games with the family out back? If your backyard outdoor space hasn't lived up to your dreams, your not alone. Many homeowners find they don't use the space as they attended and want to change that. Here are three ways you can improve your outdoor space to make it the backyard you always dreamed of:

Build a deck

You should consider getting a deck in the yard if your existing one is unsafe or if you don't already have one. Decks are popular because they elevate things off the ground and help you expand your living space. Some homes require a deck due to the elevation of the home and exterior exits. Adding square footage to your home by installing a deck is a great way to add value to the home. Design something you can enjoy and that other buyers in the future will appreciate it too. There are a few different products and materials you can use to build a deck. Trex is a popular material because it looks like wood but lasts much longer without any of the maintenance. Traditional wood decks require yearly sanding, staining, and sealing that can be very time-consuming. If you are looking for low maintenance and something that does well in all weather, consider hiring Trex deck builders to build your new deck.

Outdoor Furniture

Look for pieces of outdoor furniture that look good and bring comfort to your outdoor space. Having comfortable seating is going to help your family want to lounge around outside. Creating that dream outdoor space is easy when you focus on adding comfort and purpose to the area. Look for items that will do well with the weather in your area and invest in quality furniture covers. You will extend the life of the furniture by helping winterize the yard and get them covered and protected for the next season.

Lighting

Adding lighting to your outdoor space is a great way to add ambiance everyone can appreciate. You can string them along your new Trex deck railings or string them above. Lights can help you get more use out of the space at night when you typically wouldn't be outside. Having a drink outside under the lights and gathering around the table with friends will turn your backyard into a magical gathering place.

Get more use out of your outdoor space with these improvements. You can invest in your home by adding a Trex deck and adding comfortable living spaces. It will increase the value of your home and help you enjoy the space as you have always imagined!

Leaking Roofs and Roof Repairs

My name is Debbie Greenberg. I’m a single woman who owns her home, and like most homeowners I dread home repairs. I’m not very handy with do-it-yourself projects around the house. I can do a few minor repairs when necessary, but for the most part I have to call in a professional. Last year I had a leak in my roof. When it rained, water would leak into my kitchen. What appeared to be a simple fix turned out to be anything but simple. It took over four months to finally identify the problem, and double the money I was initially quoted to fix it. The problem ended up being that the flat part of my roof didn't have shingles, but a sheeting material. I learned a bit about home roofs along the way, and that is what I want to share with you.
