3 Ways You Can Integrate Decorative Concrete In Your Residential Concrete Work

Construction & Contractors Blog

Concrete is commonly used in construction because it is tough and durable. These qualities have made it a great construction material over the years. Some people shied away from using it because of the limited decorative options it had some time back. However, since the start of the concrete trends, concrete finishes and polishes have become extremely popular. And since the current concrete trends and uses are diverse, it's good to know how decorative concrete can help make your home more beautiful and increase its value.

Here are three ways decorative concrete can be part of your residential concrete work

Use It to Decorate Your Walls

Most people visualize a solid gray wall when you mention a concrete wall. However, there is a lot more you can do with decorative concrete to create unique interiors. The concrete contractors advise people to use decorative concrete when they want to create a neutral backdrop to their interior decor. You can use it to create a minimalist or any other unique style in your home.

You can choose polished cement bits for the sleek and polished look or scoured concrete for the textured finish that gives your home an excellent appearance. The professionals use tools such as trowels and knives to layer the concrete into different colors and textures.

Create Concrete Bathroom Fittings

Concrete fittings are among the unique finishes you can have in your bathroom. For instance, instead of buying the regular ceramic bathtub and having it installed in your bathroom, hire contractors to create a concrete one. They know how to pour the concrete and finish it so that the product can be as comfortable as the ceramic bathtub.

A concrete bathtub will give your home the look and feel of a Japanese bathhouse, which is a bit sophisticated and unique. They will also add convenience and style features such as grab bars and steps into the installation for functionality and safety.

Install a Concrete Shower

One of the biggest challenges that most homeowners constantly deal with is moisture damage in the bathroom. This problem results from water coming into contact with the materials used to create the walls. A contractor can install the right type of concrete shower and also seal it properly for a durable and low-maintenance bathroom. They ensure that the concrete is slip-resistant for maximum safety when you are using the shower.

These are just three ways in which you can integrate decorative concrete in your residential concrete work or project. Call a professional contractor to help you figure out the concrete finishes you should incorporate into your interior design.

Leaking Roofs and Roof Repairs

My name is Debbie Greenberg. I’m a single woman who owns her home, and like most homeowners I dread home repairs. I’m not very handy with do-it-yourself projects around the house. I can do a few minor repairs when necessary, but for the most part I have to call in a professional. Last year I had a leak in my roof. When it rained, water would leak into my kitchen. What appeared to be a simple fix turned out to be anything but simple. It took over four months to finally identify the problem, and double the money I was initially quoted to fix it. The problem ended up being that the flat part of my roof didn't have shingles, but a sheeting material. I learned a bit about home roofs along the way, and that is what I want to share with you.
