5 Places To Add A Skylight In Your Luxury Home Remodel

Construction & Contractors Blog

With luxury home remodeling, the sky is the limit. And with that in mind, skylights should be a part of any luxury home. Here are five places in your home to consider adding a skylight with your next luxury home remodeling project.

1. Bedroom

Skylights are great for bringing natural light into a room, but they also let you look at the view if you look straight up. So if you love the light show that stars put on at night but hate outdoor camping, you definitely need a skylight above your bed. Or, you could install a skylight over your favorite armchair or your dressing table for the natural light.

2. Bathroom

A skylight above the shower can give a very open, spacious feeling to your shower experience. This is a must especially for a luxury spa shower or a jungle-themed bathroom where you need lots of natural light to grow tropical plants.

If you install a skylight above your shower, consider choosing an operable one so that you can vent steam directly up through the skylight while showering. You can also consider adding a skylight above your bathtub or hot tub, especially if you regularly take long baths.

3. Kitchen

Kitchen sinks often traditionally face a window, but think how much more natural light you could get if you have a skylight above the sink as well. If you enjoy cooking, growing culinary herbs on your kitchen counter, or other kitchen-related activities, adding a skylight to make the area more inviting and luxurious can be a great move.

4. Living room or family room

Any room that you spend time in should have natural light since natural light not only allows you to save energy but could provide actual health benefits for you and your family. So if you spend a lot of time in the living room or family room on a daily basis, consider having a skylight installed to allow you to reap these health benefits.

5. Study or home office

If you have a dedicated study or home office room, you probably do a lot of reading and writing or other paperwork and detail-oriented work there. Natural lighting can help cut down on eye strain and keep your eyes healthy while you work. So adding a skylight can make the space more luxurious and more user-friendly as well.

As you can see, skylights are a versatile feature that can add warmth, openness, and light to your living spaces. Get in touch with your local luxury home remodeling contractor today to learn more about skylight models available and the installation process.

Leaking Roofs and Roof Repairs

My name is Debbie Greenberg. I’m a single woman who owns her home, and like most homeowners I dread home repairs. I’m not very handy with do-it-yourself projects around the house. I can do a few minor repairs when necessary, but for the most part I have to call in a professional. Last year I had a leak in my roof. When it rained, water would leak into my kitchen. What appeared to be a simple fix turned out to be anything but simple. It took over four months to finally identify the problem, and double the money I was initially quoted to fix it. The problem ended up being that the flat part of my roof didn't have shingles, but a sheeting material. I learned a bit about home roofs along the way, and that is what I want to share with you.
