Finding the right home is an essential part of life as it is where you will spend most of your time. It is also where you will invite friends over for parties, where your kids will run and play hide and seek, and one of the only places where you can feel totally secure and relaxed. That is why if you do not love a home, you should not buy it. If you cannot find the dream home that you are looking for, a great option is to get a custom-built home that will have all the features that you want. You can choose where you want your home, the size, and the floor plan. In addition, your choice of materials can make it work with any flexible budget.
Lot Choice
First on the list of customizations is your lot choice. If you want to live in a suburban area, there are always lots available for purchase. You will have many options that would fit in with your wants. If you want to be in a more secluded or wooded or farm area, you can choose that instead. There are no limits to what lots you can find available if you decide to custom build your dream home.
Size and Floor Plan
If you decided to buy a premade home, you are limited by the size and floorplans that are currently on the market. You could always add on more space, but added rooms rarely feel or look like part of the house. If you decided to custom build your home, it will have the exact size and layout you want. You can make it large or small, tall or short, wide or skinny. There are really no limits to what you can choose. You can also be sure that all the rooms will be how you want them. There are many houses that might have a great master bedroom or theater room but have a bad kitchen and bathroom setup. By getting your home custom-built, you get to be involved in the planning from the foundation to the roof. You can have the master bedroom that you have always wanted, a theater room for movie nights, and a kitchen that has all the space you need.
Budget
Because you are involved in every decision while getting your home custom-built, you can choose all the materials and colors that you want. If you have a larger budget, you can get marble counters and deep rugs. If your budget is smaller, you can go with tile counters and floors instead. You can mix and match any materials until you get exactly what you want. Because of these choices, you know that you get the biggest bang for your buck. Further, building a new home ensures that you will not have any of the problems that buying an older house can bring.

My name is Debbie Greenberg. I’m a single woman who owns her home, and like most homeowners I dread home repairs. I’m not very handy with do-it-yourself projects around the house. I can do a few minor repairs when necessary, but for the most part I have to call in a professional. Last year I had a leak in my roof. When it rained, water would leak into my kitchen. What appeared to be a simple fix turned out to be anything but simple. It took over four months to finally identify the problem, and double the money I was initially quoted to fix it. The problem ended up being that the flat part of my roof didn't have shingles, but a sheeting material. I learned a bit about home roofs along the way, and that is what I want to share with you.
